Snoop Dogg @ The Fillmore (Photo by Andy Jillson)

Snoop Dogg performed at The Fillmore in Silver Spring, Maryland on January 19, 2020 — and I, Andy Jillson, was there in the photo pit “smokin’ indo” with the rap and hip-hop icon. The show was sold out, the venue was tightly packed, and the crowd was “highly” anxious. The fans went absolutely crazy at first site of tha Dogg. Once again I was overcome with awe. Snoop dominated the mic and smoked out the entire venue. Wow.

Greensky Bluegrass @ The Met (Photo by Jordan August)

Greensky Bluegrass performed at The Met in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on January 18, 2020 — and I, Jordan August, was there in the crowd clutching my camera and gear. Much like many of the “jam bands” in the scene, I’ve been photographing and seeing Greensky Bluegrass perform live for a long time. This show was different though. The Met is a special place to see a show and the band knows that. This hometown performance was one to remember for the fans and band alike.

Pigeons Playing Ping Pong @ World Cafe Live (Photo by Jordan August)

Pigeons Playing Ping Pong performed at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on January 17, 2020 — and I, Jordan August, was there having a lunch break blast. I have been photographing and seeing the Pigeon boys perform live for 10 years now. Since the first show (in College Park, MD opening for The Bridge), the guys in the band have become good friends of mine — and watching them grow to these massive heights over the past few years has really put a smile on my face. What a phenomenal progression. Bravo!

The Jesus Lizard @ Union Transfer (Photo by Andy Jillson)

The Jesus Lizard performed for a rabid crowd at Union Transfer in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on December 30, 2019 — I, Andy Jillson, was there having a rock ‘n’ roll catharsis. This was my fourth time seeing The Jesus Lizard live, but it was undoubtedly one of the most memorable. David Yow captivated the audience, the band punished their instruments, and we all loved every second of it.

Ty Segall @ Ottobar (Photo by Andy Jillson)

For this Hazy Eye Music Media “Photo Flashback” post we’ll be taking a trip down memory lane with Ty Segall & White Fence. As a rule, I never miss an opportunity to catch a performance by the prolific garage rocker and rock & roll slave, Ty Segall. On this go around he paid a visit to Ottobar in Baltimore, MD on February 25, 2019 with fellow indie rocker and American singer-songwriter Tim Presley (aka White Fence). The venue wreaked of beer and stale cigarette smoke for this gig (I mean more so than usual). The band were drinking beer, the crew were drinking, and a large majority of the crowd were joining along. Continue reading below for full concert review. For the first Hazy Eye Music Media “Photo Flashback” we’ll be taking a trip down memory lane with Ministry. Whoa. Being a fan of Ministry, and most Al Jourgensen side projects since my teens, this is a show I will not soon forget. I was granted a photo pass and permission to photograph one of my childhood musical heroes. Hard to forget that. It only took about 3 or 4 years of requesting photo passes. Hahahahaha! I can still recall the feeling of pure bliss and redemption I experienced during my time in the photo pit. Continue reading below for full concert review.
